اياك نعبد واياك نستعين | You ˹alone˺ we worship and You ˹alone˺ we ask for help.
اِیَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَ اِیَّاكَ نَسْتَعِیْنُ (1:5)
In the preceding verses, it was stated that all praise and thanks are truly due to Allah, who is the Lord of all the worlds, the Most Merciful, and the Most Compassionate. This verse now teaches the servants how to express their servitude in the court of Allah. It says:
O Allah, Almighty! We worship You alone, for You alone are worthy of worship.
There is no one besides You who deserves to be worshipped.
And we seek help only from You, because You are the true helper.
Without Your permission and will, no one can help anyone in any way—whether outwardly or inwardly, physically or spiritually, in small matters or great.
